The addition of Matt and Sarah Barber to the management team of CHEC has brought with it many exciting changes and challenges in the running of the Centre. Firstly, CHEC has dispensed with its old, academic running structure, completely shutting for business during the school holidays, in favour of a more business like timetable that still incorporates six week's holiday a year split into three fortnightly closures at Christmas, Easter and mid Summer. This allows staff members to have reasonable downtime but also permits the business to have more consistent running.
Another change is a more focused push on our product advertising, in particular, enlarging our presence on the web. Plans for an e-commerce area of this site are in early stages and you can already 'like' CHEC on Facebook where you can keep track of what's happening within the Centre and view selected customer orders we are particularly proud of.
Despite our desire to run as near a commercial business as possible the combined disabilities we carry as a team impose an enormous restriction on our productivity and therefore our ability to sustain ourselves from our own efforts. Donations are therefore, as with all charities, a fact of life and if you would like to donate in support of our efforts please either click on the Big Give or easyfundraising links opposite or send a donation to the address on the Contacts page.
We are all excited about the future and the opportunities we will now be able to access both in terms of our graphics business and the provision we offer for those with special needs. The future holds many challenges but, as we have found so far, the harder the challenge the sweeter the victory
